We publish the milwaukee journal sentinel, which serves as the only major daily newspaper for the milwaukee metropolitan area, and, through our subsidiary, journal community publishing group, more than 90 community newspapers and shoppers in eight States.

Through journal broadcast group, we own and operate 37 radio stations and nine television stations in 12 States and operate two additional television stations under local marketing agreements.


Norlight telecommunications INC. Provides both wholesale telecommunications services, sometimes referred to as carrier services, and business-to-business telecommunications services, sometimes referred to as enterprise services or commercial services. Norlight owns and operates a regional fiber optic network.

We also provide a wide range of commercial printing services, including publications, professional journals and documentation material, as well as electronic publishing, kit assembly and fulfillment through our subsidiary, IPC print services.

In addition, we operate a direct marketing services business conducted through our subsidiary, primenet.

In 2004, our total operating revenue was $820.8 million,60.9% of which was generated from our publishing and broadcasting operations,17.5% from telecommunications and 21.6% from printing services and other operations.
